We bought our first week in 2008 and there has not been an assessment since we have been owners.

I wasn’t going to comment any further on this subject, as I have made my opinion known. However, when someone says that Kandy is being immoral because she is an administrator on a Facebook page, that’s a bridge too far. Differing opinions are great, but try to stay within some reasonable boundaries. By the way, for owners that are so unhappy with this board, go for it and run next time. Just be careful about what you wish for.

It is not necessarily the same family members. We have had nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers and to be honest it’s only$70 per year, certainly not enough money for me to get that upset about. We love spending the week with our family and this fee doesn’t change that.

I want to be clear, I am not overly upset by this but it does affect those of us that use their units for family. We have three units, one we use, and two others that we have family use. All the same week. We pay the maintenance fee, collecting no rent. We will pay$70 more per year than other owners who spend three weeks at club themselves. I think spending the time with our family is worth it so we will happily pay the money, but to say this doesn’t affect us is not true.

I might not be thrilled with this new policy, but I completely disagree that we should be looking for a new board. They do an outstanding job and the club is run better and looks better than at anytime in my ten years of ownership.

we will pay the fee, as we love having our family with us at ABC butI don’t think it’s a well thought out policy. We are being charged $70 more per year than other owners of three units, if they use them all for themselves. We pay the entire maintenance fee not collecting any rent. It doesn’t really seem equitable but we will pay because the time we spend with our family is worth it to us. I can see it being a problem for others in our situation.

It seems like this new policy effects us as we own three units all in the same week. By definition, that means we always have guests use two of our units. If I am interpreting this correctly how and when do we pay this additional $70/ year fee?

    Thanks

They can’t just post the ballot for people to use for voting. They need to be personalized for every member showing how many votes they have.

I think at this point it’s clear that you and I just disagree on this issue. That’s fine, we have both made our points and we aren’t going to change each other’s minds. I do agree that it’s not about either one of us.

Jack, it might not be the only issue but it is a big one. Being on these boards is certainly not a glamour position. The vast majority of us just send our dues in and enjoy ourselves. This group of people volunteer to do a lot of work and sacrifice their time to benefit all of us. There comes a breaking point for people to say they have had enough. Everyone’s point is different. I don’t personally know any of the board so I don’t know their personalities. If you feel so strongly about the way they are doing their job, you should either run yourself or get together with like minded people and find candidates. This is what elections are for.

I’m not going to make anymore comments regarding this on Facebook for all to see. I have to wonder what your ultimate goal is on this subject. Whether or not you approve of this potential new deck, going around the board of directors to the government could cost all of us. I just can’t understand the logic in this.

Am I reading this thread correctly? Did a member contact the government of Aruba about this deck project?
