I think two different subjects are kind of getting mixed up. At this point I think most of us understand that the beaches are public and anyone can put up their own umbrellas, bring their own chairs and set up wherever they want. The board and management company are talking about more permanent structures. They could cause an issue for Ricardo’s.

The board of directors have to balance what is good for the club as a whole. They will never please everyone. Different members have different opinions on a variety of issues. There are decisions made that differ from my wants but I understand that I am only one member.
What I would say on this beach issue in front of Ricardo’s is that if this was so important to some, they should have run for the board or make sure that someone running would be an advocate for their position. I don’t think anyone that decided to volunteer their time has made this a major point. I will also say that because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean you are being bullied.

That is not the way I interpreted what was being said but you may be right. What I don’t understand is the insult. I don’t think I know you and am not sure what I did that upset you, but if I did do or say something, I apologize.

I think the resort has a signed contract with the housekeeper’s union. That deal has already been made.

I am reasonably sure that the increase in receivables is due to the special assessment. These figures are as of October 31. The assessment wasn’t due at that point and I would think that many people hadn’t paid yet. I can’t swear that is the only issue without more information but I think it explains the majority.

I see one owner charging board members of lying and another ” demanding ” answers. I am thankful, yet amazed, that anyone takes on these volunteer positions.

There is absolutely no good reason to re-litigate this two year old situation. It is only being done because of a few people with personal agendas. No matter what your opinion of the project was, to imply that board members are liars is unwarranted. They certainly don’t have anything to be ashamed of. I have never seen one piece of evidence that they have ever acted in any way that wasn’t in the best interest of the club.

Kathy, If you aren’t happy with what the board has put forward, vote no. I have already voted yes because this board has earned my trust. I don’t need to see a quote from two different painting contractors to make up my mind. This work is overdue and putting it off for another year makes no sense to me.

Kathy, I probably wasn’t as clear as I should have been. I completely understand the fact that this refurbishment needs to be voted on. My point was and still is that the board was elected to develop the plan. They have done that, now it is time to vote. When I say micromanaging, I am talking about the questioning of every little detail.

It would be impossible for me to disagree more strongly with the idea of putting this decision on hold. We have all received the convocation. Anyone that is paying any attention knows the pros and cons. The board of directors were voted in to make these decisions. Now we are dealing with certain people trying to micromanage the board. If enough people vote against this, we will be back at where we were and a different plan can be formulated. If anyone honestly believes that this will be less contentious in a couple of months I think they are mistaken.

Maybe the logical way to go about this is for the board to layout several different refurbishment plans at different price points. The membership is going to vote on this. Having options might yield the best result.

I’m sympathetic to the financial strain that an assessment may be to owners, however the units certainly need more than just a little paint.

Kandy, unfortunately there are some people that need to say snarky things for no apparent reason. Please don’t let it bother you. I know the vast majority of people appreciate the hard work you and the entire board do on our behalf.

I can only speak for myself, but I do pay attention and have voted for the increases. I want the property to be maintained properly and I feel these increases have been justified to do just that. We have a long term investment in these units and I wouldn’t be happy to see it deteriorate over a few dollars per year. I understand that some may disagree, but if the majority of owners decided to underfund the resort my thinking about our staying at ABC might change.
