The BOD President has explained how many weeks the club owns Olga!. They own 124 units. All the rest have up to a year to pay (with penalties) before they become club property. The BOD are not fortune teller and can not see what other people do. The BOD nor management have no control over who pays their dues. If they don’t the club simply gets them back. The BOD also said that in the last refurbishment the club owned over 200. So 124 is a reasonable number to get the work done. There is no issue in this.

JackSue. That is more smoke and mirrors. Look at the September BOD meeting minutes. They definitely projected numbers there because the President said this could possible raise labor costs 20%. They did the numbers for sure. Just more off playing.

    Here is the quote from the club controller from the September meeting minutes;

Luis Bello, Controller, and Leoncia Boekhoudt, Human Resources manager, updated the board on the following:
    – Staffing and financial consequences from the Union requests if a 5 day work week is approved

Questions For MR Maduro and the Board

How many years is the contract for?

In what years do they get pay raises?

Does the Union contract allow for part time workers?

Does this contract make all part time workers a full 40 hour worker?

Over the life of the contract how much will this contract increase our budget line item percentage wise?

Did the BOD have to approve this and if yes please let us know if it was a unanimous vote or what the vote count was?

Just a question on the cash surplus. When a cash surplus is posted. Is there any encumbrance on that money in the future? A posted surplus does not necessarily mean that money isn’t already spent on things such as ongoing projects or bills that have not been posted or paid. In other words are we paying as we go?

Ok, there is a five thousand dollar deductible on the insurance claim. This sign was put up and most members did not know about it. So. Questions; who installed the sign and are they responsible for the deductible because it short circuited? Was it installed correctly?

I agree with you totally Olga except one thing. CDM does pay 60% for the beach. But what people forget is that Mathew’s sits on ABC property. They are getting off easy. Just think what would happen if we evicted them from Mathew’s and poured all the profits from that enterprise into ABC and did not allow CDM to use the beach at all. This would be a lose – lose for CDM and they would wither up and die. I personally think we should evict them fromMathew’s and pout the money into ABC. They will still pay the 60% for beach access. Trust me.

I have started a new website on Facebook called Aruba Beach Club Discussion. Please feel free to send a friend request. We can discuss things without a board member pulling down posts. The rentals in no way hurt the club. There is no difference if the owner is there or a renter. Actually renting benefits the club. I had a renter for two years.. He like the club and decided to by his own unit. Now the board wants a renters fee and this owner wants to rent units for his family and they will see a $70 week per charge. Cindy and the board are flat out wrong on this one. If you need the income it should be spread out over all owners. Time to start thinking about a new board. This one has gotten too comfortable. I have also said all along the a board member should “Not” be running the Facebook page that “Appears” to be representing the owners. It is morally wrong.

    When was this fee approved?
Is this legal. The membership did not vote on it?
This is discriminatory. If the club is short on funds this should be spread out to all owners.

This is absolute BS and here is why.

    1. Where is the vote by the membership to apply this fee? Is this legal without a vote by the members.
    2. This nothing more than a blind attempt by the club to do a back door assessment to raise funds.
    3. Why May 17th. So only the peons pay for the rest of the year? The high weeks already stayed. Something smells fishy here.
    4. There is no loss of funds to the club. They still get your dues.
    5. The Board is penalizing members who rent. If you need funds, they should be assessed across the Board.
    6. We understand the club makes more money by renting our weeks for us. But there is no guarantee they will do so.
    7. This hurts members who rent other member units when they bring their families.

Again, the Board just sees fit to announce things just when they happen. Just like the tennis court issue. They never tell us until someone discovers it is going on or they announce it at the last minute. We have returned to the old days. I don’t trust any of them anymore. There was no pre announcement or explanation to the members on this. It is time for a new board this one has never been transparent. They just do things such as this behind closed doors.
