fastmike51ParticipantIt is a resort, not a nursing home. One night week is reasonable and standard at most resorts. We all have different likes and dislikes. We have to learn to get along. Also the bar is a big contributor to keeping our dues low and Thursday is probably the biggest intake of money in that week. Don’t kill the golden goose and pay more dues.- 11/20/2019 at 4:45 pm

fastmike51ParticipantA few questions about this news.1. Do we still have the buying power that the management company had? if we do not, then how will this affect refurbishment?
2. There were funds budgeted for the management company in the budget, how much of those funds are left over? Can we apply those funds to the refurbishment and reduce the member assessment. Or use these funds to fund some type of amenity at the club we currently don’t have?
3. Are we going to look at another management company or turn control over to
the new manager?- 04/18/2019 at 9:18 pm

fastmike51ParticipantSo in essence we let the union bully the BOD and management into firing a GM. How sad. I was under the impression from Capitols address to the members that they had identified problems with staff and managers. How can we correct problems when the manager tries to correct the problems and gets fired. Unbelievable.- 04/16/2019 at 5:15 pm

fastmike51ParticipantIt appears that the original questions was about how much was spent on buying out employees, not the personal details. I think it is a fair question and within the bounds of not steeping into what anyone personally got.- 04/16/2019 at 2:14 am

fastmike51ParticipantI was asking why we had a no strike clause because it is usual policy in negotiations to include a no strike clause so that employees can not strike while they are in contract. I found it odd that this was not included in our last union contract, especially when we graciously gave them a three year contract worth about 19% and shortened there work day by a day and didn’t change their pay. So here is the version of a story that may or may not apply to our resort. I can not state if anything is right about it or not. A management company had identified many deficiencies in the way employees and managers operate. The story goes that the resort manager was suspended and eventually let go because the GM tried to address the problems and the employees and managers did not like it and went to the union and threatened to strike. I was also told the employees were celebrating at the bar after the manager was suspended. So whether this story is a fairy tale or not I can not say. But it sure sounds very interesting.- 04/12/2019 at 1:33 am

fastmike51ParticipantKris here is a Quote from Kandy our Board member in the other union post on this site:“There was a threat of a walk out. Some of the union personnel asked for a meeting with the union about some uncertainties and the union granted a meeting at 8 AM. The union met with the staff clarified the issues and they were resolved after a meeting with the union president, ABC shop Stewart, ABC Chairman of the Board, ABC General Manager and ABC Human Resources”.
The members should be asking why.

fastmike51ParticipantYes there is a reason I am asking this question. So Kandy, I ask again, did our BOD not include the strike clause in negotiations or will Aruban law not allow it. I have asked Mr Foley this question by e-mail also and he has not answered.- 04/09/2019 at 4:11 pm

fastmike51ParticipantSo is this by Aruban law that we can’t include a strike clause?- 04/06/2019 at 9:10 pm

fastmike51ParticipantI would be interested in seeing this answered.- 04/06/2019 at 8:19 pm

fastmike51ParticipantYes Kris. I was answered by Kandy. The answers are on the string.- 04/06/2019 at 8:17 pm

fastmike51ParticipantSo Kandy, they can go on strike even though they are under contract. Is this by a Arubian law or did we not include it in the negotiations? In the answer please include the section of the Aruban Law that requires it.- 04/04/2019 at 11:02 pm

fastmike51Participant@Kandy wrote:No
So that would mean that the employees can go on strike if they are under contract. I have never seen a contract where employees can strike if they are under contract. Please let us know.

fastmike51ParticipantIn my opinion, the General Manager should be and Employee of the “Management” Company. Not ABC. If we are going to have a management company then let them manage. If it is found that the GM is not doing their job, it would be the responsibility of the management company to fire her and “Pay All Associated Costs For That Under Aruban Law that Apply to the Termination!!!! 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 .- 03/02/2019 at 11:13 pm

fastmike51ParticipantKandy does that apply to the special assessment?
