- in reply to: Transfer fees on sale of unit
KandyParticipantWhen doing a private transcation the transfer fee is $250 per week so it would be $500 for two weeks.
Also because the banks in Aruba now charge a foreign transction fee of $5.00 on any foreign check, if you are writing a check to the resort for the transfer fee from any bank other than one in Aruba you will need to add an additional $5. ($505.00 for 2 weeks)If you are purchasing through the resort there is no transfer fee.
I hope this has helped answer your question.

KandyParticipantHi Ken,
Like you, I need wi-fi access all the time for many reason at home or out of the country.Perhaps after you get there and get settled you can post here how you made out and what your best option was. Hopefully by the time you get there ABC will have their new wi-fi system up and running.
Enjoy your vacation.

- in reply to: WiFi availability?
KandyParticipantHey Ken,The new wi-fi project at ABC started September 25, 2017 and is in the final phase of running throughout the resort and on the beach. However although very close, it is not completed as far as I know. I don’t know when you plan to visit ABC so perhaps it will be done when you arrive.
When finished ABC will offer the following wi-fi packages: $10.00 per day, $35.00 per week, $50.00 for 2 weeks or $70.00 for 1 month. You will be able to connect 2 devices with one code, you can add on another device for an additional $10.00, a maximum of 4 devices per unit. You will be able to connect anywhere on premises, be it your room, pool deck or beach. They will still be providing free wi-fi in the lobby and under the Cayenna Terrace.
Currently being offered is the standard one user wi-fi by Setar available in your room for a fee and is being offered for free in Cayenna Terrace and at Ricardo’s Restaurant.
I don’t think you would be able to use the wi-fi offered by CDM at ABC because you need to purchase one of the packages CDM offers and then I doubt it would work as the routers in the CDM units connect to the antennas on their property. I’m no authority by any means but that just seems like the logical answer. If anyone knows to the contrary please reply.
Hope I have helped in some way.

- in reply to: Referral Program?
KandyParticipantKathleen, I didn’t want to give you incorrect information so I checked and “Shoco” is correct. If you refer a buyer to John in resales and the person you refer purchases a unit you will receive a gift certificate to Ricardo’s for $25.00. once the transaction is completed. Just make sure the person you refer lets John know you sent them to him.- 11/30/2017 at 9:38 pm
- in reply to: NEW CORRESPONDENT BANK FEE
KandyParticipantGood question but one I don’t have an answer for. Perhaps someone else on this page might know. I DO know that pre paid Visa and Mastercards cards from the US were not accepted 2 years ago but anything can change in 2 years.
You might want to check into credit cards that don’t charge a foreign transaction fee. I have a master card that doesn’t.
Using debit cards in Aruba is very risky I understand. People are constantly posting about skimming problems on the Aruba forums when using debit cards unless you use them at the bank.
Sorry I couldn’t help you or have better information but I’ve never use debit cards or travelers checks.

KandyParticipantThe sample sofa has been ordered and as soon as it arrives we will place a picture.Thank you for your comments and suggestions and they have been added to the long list that we have already received by other owners.
Until all the final decisions as to what will or will not be included in the refurbishment on the units, we won’t know the cost.

KandyParticipantHappy you like the looks of the sample unit.
This last time there was a renovation at ABC was at 12-14 years ago, pretty long time for a resort of this type.
There has been no announcement about the cost of the room so I would say $37,000 is not an accurate number.- 11/18/2017 at 1:04 am

KandyParticipant@Woolah72 wrote:Okay, I understand we need to have rooms available to move owners to another room if they are renovating. How many rooms are being renovated?? Just room 129 or is there one of the three size rooms being done also?? When we plan on having renovations done in our home, we have a couple estimates done for what work we need. Then we have an idea of what it will cost. I can’t believe we just say go renovate the room without an estimate….that is what most of us want to know.
It is not a renovation, it will be a refurbishment. All rooms, Royal, Deluxe and Superior will be refurbished not just room 129. Room 129 is a sample room for color and content. There is a video and pictures of 129 on this web site. Owners are invited to view the video, pictures and the room itself while you are in Aruba and give your comments or recommendations as to what you like/dislike about the room. All suggestions are being considered and the refurbishment will need to be voted on and passed by the membership to proceed. An estimate of the cost at this time is not known because a final decision on exactly what is going to be done still needs to be made. Suggestions are still being submitted by members.

I am a member of the ABC Board and I did reply to Kathleen’s question with the answer. Mr Foley does not “rule” the club, he is the Chairman of the Board.

Secretary ABC Board of DirectorsKandyParticipantGood morning Kathleen,The $35 fee is applied when anyone other than the owner or co-owner of record is occupying a unit. This fee does not apply if the owner notifies the club that they will not use the unit and deposits the week in the rental pool and follows the procedures outlined in the rental agreement.
As for your question about adding another family member and removing the name of a deceased owner, contact
Aruba Beach Club Resort Executive Assistant/Member Relations Coordinator, Ida Piternella Brete
[email protected]
She will be able to answer your questions and offer more information and what you will need to make this change. The club does not charge for removing the name of a deceased owner or co-owner, however, they do charge fee of $150. per unit week for adding a name of a family member to a deed. The fee for a non family member is of $250. per unit week.Regards,
Kandy Cottrill
Secretary ABC Board of DirectorsKandyParticipantThe answers are yes the Board Of Directors voted and approved this fee and is reflected in the minutes of the April 2017 Board meeting.
· On April 24 2017-Rene Levy Maduro made the motion to add a $35.00 per transaction fee for private rentals. The charge will go into effect as of May 15, 2017. The motion was seconded by Cindy Martorella and unanimously approved by the Board present.Members were notified by email sent to all members with an up to date email address that is filed with the resort.
The $35 fee applies to anyone occupying the unit that is not the owner or co-owner of record and in your case would apply to the couple staying both weeks in your two separate units.
The safest and easiest way to fill out the Guest of Owner form is right here in the owners area using the online form. The site is secure and you can enter your credit card information there.
There is no way to add the $35 to your maintenance fee.
